Final Fantasy :: Requiem Of Shadows

Music is but a thought--a voice that cannot speak, yet refuses to remain silent. This is Final Fantasy. Can you hear it? It comes from the Shadows--A Requiem.

Name: Gnarled Staff

Type: Staff

Element: Earth

Effect: +20% Bonus to Summoning, the crystal set in the wood has the ability to glow bright enough to fill a room with light

Range: Close to mid-range

Appearance: Formed from a single root from a tree accidently knocked down by one of the Aeons in a great battle, this staff has been shaped and altered to be a single rod of wood with a twisted bulb on one end and a rounded tip on the other. It is as strong in formation as steel would be, though it is completely formed of wood, except for the crystal encased within the twisted bulb, which has been enchanted to enhance the abilities of the one who wields it.

Picture: The end of it looks kinda like this, only the twisty pieces surround a crystal.

What do you mean plus 20% boost to summoning? Like I am a bit lost as to the affect of it on your summoning ability.

Basically it makes her Summons stronger but doesn't affect OTHER applications of her Magic. Just the Summons.

Like someone saying "Boosts White Magic" (cure, Light Elemental, certain Buffs/Debuffs) but it doesn't affect Black Magic (basic Elements).

A Flat 20% to Magic would affect ALL of the above.

That help?

So does that make each of her summon's abilities stronger as well?

It wouldn't change the Tier rating on them, nor the MP cost.

But it would change the relative strength of that Summon compared to other summons of that MP cost and Tier rating.

There's more to a Summon than just how much MP you pump into them. Summons grow with the Summoner. So a 50 MP Summon as called by a 200 point Summoner is going to be significantly weaker then a 50 MP Summon as called by a 1200 point Summoner.

It works like this on Spells too, you know. If someone boosts their Magic it doesn't change the Tier rating OR the MP cost for a spell, but it does make the spell hit harder for that Tier rating.

Look, I've got about 1300 points right now. 20% of that would be 260 points. So Yuna would be Summoning as if she had roughly 1560 points. Level 130 vs Level 156, give or take a level or three.
