Good Qualities: Being part of the dreaded Tonberry race he is of course very dangerous with his blade, he is also like his people in the respect that he can take a great amount of punishment most likely due to his race normally being quite slow. Though in his case his speed is pretty good in the respect that he is one of the few Tonberries that could chase you around for a bit, he is the oldest of the group and is also the wisest due to his life experiences. He is also a very good Chef and is normally the one that has to cook the food for the group though he doesn't really mind as he finds it fun, except he hates having to fight with Kaleb to get veges down the boy's throat every time though it seems lettuce and potatoes are easy to get him to eat. He also makes riddles which to his delight is one of Kaleb's favorite things to hear as he finds it fun to figure them out, and sometimes the boy even gives him a few riddles that perplex him. Also he is able to see in the dark, just it easier on the eyes to have a lantern with him.
Bad Qualities: Hiram is a Tonberry so his height is a bit of a disadvantage due to how one it makes him an easy being to get under foot, and two short legs do not make for good jumps though with Malice around he doesn't have to worry about it too much and even Kaleb, with assistance from Eva, help him over come that little physical defect. He is unlike other Tonberries because he while they seem to be good at magic his magical powers seemed to have become weaker than the norm, though his speed increase has made him ok with it. He is as figured a close range fighter so long range fighters will have an easy time with him, that is if they can get a bead on him as small fast targets are pretty damn hard to hit. He also has a few buttons one should NEVER press that being if you call him a lizard he will stab you or in Kaleb's case hit very hard with fist, and if you make fun of his size then you should run as he even tries to stab Kaleb when the idiot makes that sort of comment.

Appearance: Hiram is quite small like most Tonberries, being only an inch over three feet tall. He has the typical green skin, round head with a small snout, round yellow eyes look that most Tonberries have; he of course walks on two legs and resembles, to some small degree, a bipedal lizard though if you call him that he will stab you MANY times. Also he always wears a hooded cloak that is plain brown with some gray markings on it, and as usual his dolphin-like tail can be seen peeking out from beneath the hem. He always carries two things: a lantern in one hand to light his way through the caves in which he dwells, and a long, sharp knife in the other that is as you guessed it......used to stab people.
History: Hiram's past is shrouded in mystery as is the nature of his people as everyone just ASSUMES that Tonberries are born from eggs and that there is indeed female Tonberries, since no one is stupid enough to go underground where the Tonberries live and try to find out the details and so Hiram's history really starts from when the Tonberry was only at the young age of eight and had ran off from his parents. He had some how stumbled his way to the exit of one of the caves and looked outside to see it was raining and thought it would be fun to play in the rain and for a while it was. That was till the little Tonberry held his knife arm in the air when lighting was trying to find a way to the ground and on top of the flat hill that the cave opened to that little knife of his was the closest thing to the sky, and so the lighting flew into the knife and right into and through the Tonberry giving it a very nasty shock and making him fall right onto his stomach out cold.
His parents found him and brought him back underground and were able to save the little Tonberry and after a few weeks the little guy was up and about with no side effects, that is till the little guy easily started to out run every other Tonberry in the small underground Tonberry village. This amazed many of the Tonberries as they were always known to be considered slow beings, yet here this young one was running around at speeds that could easily keep up with human children about his age. They soon learned ti was the lighting that caused this as it had given him enhanced speed that would make him an excellent runner/chaser but had weakened his magical powers a good amount, now Hiram didn't mind it just meant he had to use his knife more than his magic and he hated learning magic anyway.
As the years went by Hiram grew into a young Tonberry when he had reached the age of thirty, which was about young man age for his kind and so during that time he had went outside to see if he could find some food for the village as it wasn't needed but extra food was always nice. That is when he ran into a certain chaos mage by the name of Kaleb H. Hall, when the two met Hiram was walking normal Tonberry speed to see if he could catch something off guard with his hidden talent when he looked at Kaleb he saw the young man had frozen up and was watching him closely.
Hiram thought that the human might have something good with him so he took a step toward him but saw that Kaleb took a step back, and this kept going as each stop forward Hiram made Kaleb matched it with a step back. Hiram then tried to get behind him but Kaleb kept doing the opposite of what he was doing to keep Hiram at the same distance and the same direction as before, Hiram finally got tired of this and ran toward Kaleb who yelled out
"HOLY SHIT!!!!! FAST TONBERRY OF DEATH OUT OF MY WAY!!!!" Kaleb had turned around and was running away with his hands thrown up in classic anime style as he yelled while running for his life from the little creature ducking and dodging anything that went at him be it a thrown object or a slash.
This went on for hours before the two finally fell over on the ground as Kaleb said
"......huff huff huff........T-time out......." Hiram just laid there resting as Kaleb then said
"......Huff...W-why......did you attack me?" Hiram let out a squeak before Kaleb said
"Don't.....Huff huff.......give me that squeak crap....huff huff.....I know you guys can talk......" Hiram finally decided to talk as he said
"I.......Huff......wanted food from you.....huff" Kaleb looked over at the Tonberry and said
"You could of just asked you know....." Kaleb had gotten enough of his breath back as Hiram said
"Don't think........I'm through with you...." but before Hiram could even say anything else a rather large fiend dive bombed at the two and knocked out the weakened Tonberry with a powerful wind spell.
It then tried to get the Tonberry only to get a large fist to the side from Eva as Kaleb said
"Hey you, leave him alone!" Kaleb fought the fiend while Hiram was out and before Hiram woke up the fight was over, so when he did awaken he saw that the human was beaten up a bit with some blood on his clothes and wondered why till he remembered being hit by something then saw the large dead Fiend Body as Kaleb said
"Hey you are awake, worried that over grown bird killed ya." Hiram blinked a bit at Kaleb before saying
"Why do you care about what happens to me? I'm just a Tonberry, adventures hate us." "Well only because you attack them, and I don't hate you just don't like the idea of getting stabbed by your knife. I know you guys are deadly with that thing."Hiram listened to this strange human for a while before he said
"You can't cook for shit......the meat is getting burnt...." Kaleb looked over at him and said
"Well master chef, have at it. I'm not used to this whole bond fire cooking thing." Hiram got up and walked over to the meat and fixed it as much as he could by getting rid of the burnt parts and setting it up right, soon after it was done he fixed them both up a good meal as they finished Kaleb said
"Damn you guys really are Master Chefs, thanks for the food." Hiram had enjoyed it too as he then heard
"Oh ya, names Kaleb H. Hall. What is yours or should I just call you Master Chef?" Kaleb chuckled at his Master Chief joke as Hiram then said
"Hiram Menthe, nice to meet you Kaleb."Kaleb let out another groan as he said
"MANNNN WHY DOES EVERYONE GOT A COOLER NAME THAN ME!?!?!" Hiram chuckled at the weird human's actions before he said
"You know because of what you did, I owe you a life debt." Kaleb looked over at Hiram and said
"Now don't get all I owe you on me, if you want to come with me you can but if you don't want to go you don't have to go." Hiram shook his head as he said
"Well I sort of want to go too, life with the other Tonberries is so slow......*hears Kaleb laughing*.......what is so funny?" Kaleb finally stopped laughing as he then said
"You said life with the other Tonberries is so slow......it ironic.......because Tonberries are normally known for being slow......hahahahah." Hiram chuckled a bit as it did make sense and from that day forth Hiram became part of Kaleb's party. So that when Kaleb became part of Kuja's party Hiram joined as well.
