| Subject: Polaris of Kounat :: Mari Grimoire October 15th 2010, 11:29 am | |
| (This is based off of a character from a game, yes.) Name: Mari Grimoire Age: 15 (Looks that way) Race: Human (Al Bhed, presumable) Gender: Female Home World: Spira Elemental usage: Ice and Lightning Class: Mechanist Sub Class: Elementalist Weapons: Magic Mallet Maverick Fighting style: She rather prefers to keep away from close combat situations, making her create her own little arsenal of machinery to keep enemies away from her. Even though he preferred weapon is the Magic Mallet when enemies get close, she tends to bat them away with it and use another machine while the enemy is dazed. That does NOT mean she cannot defeat someone with melee if prompted to, it just means she doesn't like it. Good Qualities: She is good at making machines, and various mechanical weapons. She is good with ice magic, though that is secondary to her machines. When prompted, she is quick, flexible, and has average attack power. She is also pretty lucky, seeing how she makes so many machines and none have killed her or blown up in her face. Bad Qualities: She isn't exactly a social type, suffering from crippling depression. She is very incapable of taking a hit, having low vitality and a below average defense. She can barely dodge and that is if an attack is obviously coming. She also seems to have some issues with wind magic, she cannot stand it. She is a very inaccurate shot. Affinities: Neutral Lawful Appearance: She stands about as tall as an average short male, maybe a little shorter, about 5'6". She weighs in at about 127 Lbs. She has a sleek figure, but has a pale complexion. This pale complexion is flawless, without a single breakout of acne ever in her life. Mari has long blue hair that goes a little past waist level, which is always clean, and always has two black ribbons in it, on either side of her head that don't style the hair, but flow out gracefully.. Mari suffers from a genetic mutation called heterochromia, which is when one's eyes are two different colors, generally complementary colors as well. Her right eye is blue, whilst her left eye is red. (If you look closely in one of the pictures she has a black ring inside her red eye's iris) First off, Mari wears glasses. Because you CANNOT be a mechanical genius without glasses right? Anyhow, her outfit color scheme is blue and white. She wears a blue top, it has a turtle neck that looks to choke her a little (though it doesn't). This top cuts of above her belly, and has a strap around her body. There is a feature that she doesn't seem to notice about her top that it has a hole where it exposes her cleavage. The hole's edge is by her arms though. This shirt has small sleeves. The neck is covered with fluffy cotton which somehow suffices to keep he head warm in the winter as well. She has a pair of black cloth gloves, with white fluffy cotton around her wrists. Now onto her bottom clothing. The first thing you will notice about her lower clothing is the fact that she is wearing a miniskirt (god, how does she stay warm?). On the hips of the skirt there are a couple of metal plates that guard her waist line. The majority of the skirt, is blue, however, it does have white frills along the edge of it. She also has a tasset that extends like a cape from the back of her waistline. She wears a pair of long black stockings that end up on her middle thigh (giving her a very Perfect Grade A Zettai Ryouiki), with a strap of blue with a gold pattern in it. Her shoes are mainly white, with strips of blue with a golden buckle on each. History: Except for the artifacts that are scattered around the world, Mari is the last person left from the great and ancient kingdom known as Kounat. Having lost her memory, she cannot remember too well who she is, or where she came from, however she does know her name. Ever since re-awakening, she has been fascinated with but a few things. A few to be named are Books, and Technology (machines especially), and Secret Ancient Devices. This being, she is naturally gifted with riddle and decoding. For some odd reason, the kingdom of Kounat, positioned near Macalania, somehow disappeared completely in a short amount of time. Mari might have been able to recall what had happened to do that, but sadly, she was stricken with amnesia at some point in her past. However, whatever caused this Amnesia, was not strong enough to make her forget two things, her own name, and her love for magic and robotic technology. Being alone was good enough for Mari, because she didn't like noise and people who talked to her too much. She'd much rather read. So she spent a long period of time just reading, because she loved to satisfy her curiosity, nothing satisfied her more. From her studies, she reconstructed a few ancient machina from Kounat with her own two hands and magics. In one of her books she discovered a city called Bevelle, which from what she read, somehow hovered above the ground. This peaked her interest, and she went there, not to find ancient artifacts or to pray for memory. She actually went to discover how this city managed to stay hovering. However she discovered that there was no hovering involved. Just lost of advanced machina and technology. Disappointed, Mari was leaving Bevelle. She happened upon a person though, Kiyuki, was his name. He had a rebellious look in his eyes, and that sparked her interest. After Mari spoke with him, which was like a miracle to happen, she figured out that Bevelle was a civilization that was full of hippocracy, and betrayal of trust. In support of Kiyuki's efforts, she joined his little cause and since then has been creating machina. ABOUT POLARISBefore a mysterious massive explosion obliterated it, Polaris was the highest position of an ancient kingdom, Kounat. The Polaris was the symbol of a guiding light in Kounat, and only a member of the elite with exceptional abilities could hope to ascend to this position. The power to create new machines and research magic fell under the jurisdiction of a Polaris. The Polaris has gained the ability to summon a variety magical helpers and set up machines, but can do so with enhanced power and speed. Other Facts About Mari Mari is cool and calm all the time, however when she speaks, she sounds like she is dead serious about everything, having a strong woman's English accent, also saying many thing that are spoken by normal people in one way she will say it the original English way. Examples are Data (We say: Day-tuh, she says: Dah-tah) and Potato (We Say: Po-tay-toh, she says: Po-tah-toh). Mari suffers from state-of-the-art chronic depression as well, so she is distant from people, and doesn't tend to be very friendly if her knowledge is questioned. Mari's IQ is over 200. Pictures: Mari With Magic Mallet Mari With Maverick (Alternate Costume as well)
Name: Magic Mallet
Type: Technologically Designed Mallet Of Sealing (It looks like a Croquet Mallet to me!)
Element: Technology! (None)
Effect: 1: Technology Seed~ A sealing glyph, positioned on the handle of this weapon. This seal pops out little nano-technological seeds that when put into soil, grow into various robots. (Required for certain spells) 2: Techno-magical Crystal~ This is a non-sealed addition to the hammer. A little bulletproof glass containment unit holds a small magical shard from a crystal. This allows any robots near her to be re-used, as this near infinite energy source can recharge them, but it requires time. This cannot be removed from the weapon in any way shape or form.
Long/Short range: Short
Description: This is a mallet, which looks much like a croquet mallet. It stands about 5'4" tall from bottom of the handle to the top of the hammer part. It has a small containment unit on the top of the mallet with the Techno-Magical Crystal shard inside, which glows blue. The striking sides of this mallet are black, while the hammer part is blue (with a golden switch for the crystal), the handle is white with spots of blue and gold.
History: This weapon was with Mari when she lost her memory. Having no idea who she was aside from her name, she carried the mallet with her. However, as she learned more about technology, she started to edit this mallet, until is was like magic. She gave it the name Magic Mallet because of this. She wields it for combat as her main melee weapon, even to this day.
Picture: (See above pictures of Mari with the Magic Mallet)
Name: Edwin (EDged WINg Unit)
Type: Hovering Swords
Element: None
Effect: 1: Hovering~ These are able to be controlled via a command chip in Mari's brain (don't ask), and they hover around. 2: Blaster~ When used with Maverick, this blades second as energy blasters, via a photon core in the turbines, which can focus photons within into solidified blasts that turn into energy on impact. ONLY when Maverick is in use, they can each fire 3 blasts of energy per post, which have tier one light damage damage.
Long/Short range: Medium (Long with Maverick)
Description: A set of four swords as long as daggers (about 7 inches long). Where the hilts would be, are rapidly spinning turbines. When in use, they hover about 2 feet behind Mari, and point outwards like wings. They can move individually, but mainly stay together, as being apart denies them their full range of movements.
History: Mari decided that she needed a little weapon to swing around. Sadly a croquette hammer didn't suit her needs for that weapon. So, she studied a while, and discovered the use of turbines. This turbine generated a little bit of power, that caused it to generate more power, for keeping the generator going. She used this design to create an excess of energy which allowed the machine further use, however the scale on which she could use this, was small, yielding this weapon.
Name: Maverick
Type: Gun (Kounatian War-Grade Maverick Mach VIII)
Element: None
Effect:
1: High Explosive Incendiary 30 MM Rounds~ This gun fires a maximum of 7 rounds. These rounds are modernly used as anti-material, or armor-piercing ammunition, and not as anti-personnel. However Ancient Kounatians, developed these weapons a massive revolver and barrel. These rounds can puncture armored vehicles and they explode in a 2 foot radius. These also ignite fires with incendiary materials that ignite in the explosion. It takes 1 post to reload this thing.
2: ELBOW (Extremely Low Blowback Opposed to Weight)~ This Ancient civilization somehow figured out how to fire bullets this size and power with only one hand, with the blowback of a mere modern Military-Grade Pistol. No idea how it works, Mari dug this up somewhere near Bevelle in perfect condition. She hasn't taken it apart yet.
Long/Short range: Long
History: An ancient war weapon used by the ancient Kounatians, according to Mari's texts. She has the ability to use it to its fullest power as she is a Polaris. She dug this up, hundreds of miles from where she awoke, near Bevelle. It was in perfect condition, save for a little bit of polishing that was needed. She has not taken this apart, as she has not found any ancient blueprints for this thing in her texts..
Picture: See Above picture of Mari wielding the Maverick.
Name: Mana-Divider
DESCRIPTION: Mari plants a technology seed in the ground. It almost instantly grows into a little machine, much like a generator, or an engine. When this is grown, it will instantly activate and drain everyone in the topic (allies included) of 10 MP and send it to Mari. This is how she can make more and more machines and tends to be the field set up. The more people (RPCs and PMs, not random NPCs) in the RP the more MP she can recover with this at once. If the targeted person is out of MP then the machine cannot restore Mari's MP.
Cost: 50 MP (Ineffectual in a topic with less than 6 people counting herself)
Class: Supportive
Element: Technology (Non-Elemental)
Range: Long (Topic Area Encompassing)
Duration: 2 Posts, Drains 10 MP from enemies per post. Requires 3 Posts to recharge with Magic Mallet
Effect: Drains all other characters in topic (meaning not Mari) of 10 MP per post for 2 posts, and sends it to Mari. Can be broken by physical means but is resistant to all magic except lightning.
Basically: All other people in the topic lose 10 MP/AP + Mari Gains 10 MP for every other person in the topic (excluding NPCs[except for hunt targets and event NPCs])
History: Mari's recreation of a magic generator that soldiers from Kounat would bring with themselves to the battlefield to supply themselves with MP that was nearly infinite because of the wars they were fighting had so many soldiers. However, she discovered that this small scale model would not handle such conditions as the MP influx would overcharge and break down. This being so, the machine can easily handle up to 50 people at once (god forbid she fights that many at once)
Name: Push Board
DESCRIPTION: After planting the seed, it will near instantly grow into a short 4 foot tall, 2 foot diameter pillar with four spring loaded boards around the top. These boards are motion activated. When anyone gets too close (within 2.5 feet) except for Mari, the boards will pump out and send the enemy back a few meters, while dealing tier 1 physical damage. This can happen more than once if the enemy is dumb enough to try again.
Cost: 20
Class: Offensive
Element: None
Range: Short
Duration: 5 Posts (But it doesn't move), 2 Posts to Recharge with Magic Mallet
Effect: Tier 1 Physical damage to enemies who get within 2.5 feet + High Knockback
History: Another little basic machine of Kounat. Way back then, Mari's people would make entire blockades with these, with a soldier a safe meter behind each one. Back then it was dangerous. However this is very much less advanced, as she can only make one at a time. This is like Mari's little barrier.
Name: Protector Board
DESCRIPTION: A seed is planted, and it grows into this. It looks like 2 spheres with electricity skipping between them. However when anyone gets to close or casts a projectile spell, the spheres will split into top and bottom hemispheres, the top ones rise up and the bottom ones remain stationary. This happens instantly, and when it does it creates an electric barrier about 6 foot tall and 3 Feet wide. It will zap the enemy with high Tier 1 damage. It will also completely dissipate magic away on contact with it.
Cost: 30 MP
Class: Defensive
Element: Lightning
Range: Short.
Duration: 3 Posts, Takes 3 Posts to recharge with Magic Mallet
Effect: Zaps enemy with High Tier 1 Damage on contact + Dissipates All Magic that touches it (so long as the magic is its MP or lower).
History: A little custom contraption Mari invented with the knowledge of technology. This spell was actually made as an anti-magical force field, however, Mari couldn't actually make it work that well fast enough with what she knew at the time, and therefore, had to lower the size. By lowering the size, though, she did heighten the efficiency of it, by a mile! This anti-magic barrier is a much more efficient defense than most of her other defensive.
Name: The Eraser
DESCRIPTION: Mari tosses a technology seed up into the air (about 10 feet up) and it becomes this machine. This machine takes the form of a rocket-like flying robot. When activated, it will activate a laser of concentrated electricity, that will fire down on those unfortunate enough to be in range of the blast, which is about 1.5 feet wide in diameter. It will also fly forward about 10 feet. The downside is that the constant use of electricity and rocket fuel causes it to explode mid-flight after it is used. The other downside is that its attack area is only that of the laser and it is usually pretty easy to dodge.
Cost: 100
Class: Offensive
Element: Lightning
Range: Mid Range
Duration: Instant Cast
Effect: A straight 10 counts of Tier 1 Lightning for those caught in the blast.
History: Mari needed a purely damage weapon to fry her enemies with. Through some research she invented this little piece of Satan's horn. Its conditions of effectiveness are near impossible to obtain, but when it occurs, this machine can be straight lethal.

| I posted in this already!!! >< Where did it go!?!?!? O.O
ugh Fenik -.- You're throwing Kinzey for a loop here
As I had stated before in my disappearing post >>..... No matter what canon stuff/abilities this character had elsewhere, so long as you conform them to the rules of how this site is set up by the FF standards it's is based on, I will allow this.
I see nothing wrong with the template as is

And what do you mean re-used exactly?
| | | Fenik
| Subject: Re: Polaris of Kounat :: Mari Grimoire October 15th 2010, 6:40 pm | |
| 1: One can be made per post.
2: Re-used as in, when their duration runs out and their battery dies, I can re-charge their batteries over a few posts instead of wasting magic to make another one.

| Mana Divider, Push Board, and Protector Board are up...
Enchantment
Name: Rocket Jump
Magic: 0 MP (It is rather easy to use and simple)
Effect: Mari can use this ability to jump up to 25 Feet at one time. However, she needs a running start. She can cause a propulsion wave from her right hand to launch herself higher into the air. It looks like a rocket propulsion system, hence, the name
Past: The propulsion glyph is an ancient magic that Mari just so happened upon. There was a glyph on a wall while she and Kiyuki were hunting for treasures, however much she despised doing so. She touched it in hopes that the treasure were behind a door of the glyph. Upon contact the glyph burned itself into her hand, and she can now use its power whenever she wants, even though there is a cooldown.

| Mana Divider is ok. It's the same as a Syphon spell and at the same amount (10MP) per person. And you set a restriction to it. Very good.
Push Board is also a go
Protector Board.... it can only deflect magic of the same cost. Edit that in. Anything more powerful, it will effect this.
Once you do that little notation, consider the spells Approved
As for the Rocket Jump enchantment, I would ask you to word how it made to use in a different way. The reason I ask this is, you are currently stating that gravity is used to activate this. Even though you are manipulating it. ((which I've aslo done the same with my Gravity spells))
If I approve this as is, then others will expect to receive the use of other spells and manipulate them at a free cost as well. So if you could word how this works differently, even if its just rocket boosters in her shoes, then I can work with that

| Ten counts of Tier 1? For 80 MP?
Uhhhhhhhhh
I'm not so sure about that.
You do say that it's easy to dodge, but still, that seems like an excessive amount to me, when ONE count of Tier 1 is 10 MP by itself.

Energy Blasters? Three blasts of energy? How strong of energy and what's the source?
I'm at a bit of a loss.

| Edited in the source and damage equivalence.
Basically, when Maverick (which will be made later when it is useful to me) becomes the used weapon of the battle, Mari can use Edwin as back-up blasters with their ability.

| Okay, so Tier 1 damage on three blasts? Is that for all three blasts combined? Or each blast is Tier 1?
Base level weapons *can* be enchanted to do up to Tier 1 damage along with the physical damage expected.
Just be aware that if you're going to be pairing this with another weapon you'll need to be Dual-Wield approved at the time.
Okay?
