Tiraleen Empty
PostSubject: Tiraleen   Tiraleen EmptySeptember 29th 2010, 9:31 pm

Note: This is a former Main Character. There are some complications with that regarding the Template. I'll fix them when I have a working brain.

Name: Tiraleen
Age: 17
Race: Selkie
Gender: Female
Home World: Raised on Gaia, currently a resident of Spira
Class: Summoner
Sub-Class: Ninja
Racial Class: Thief

Elemental Mastery:

Primary: Non-Elemental (formerly Dragon)
Secondary: Earth (formerly Metal)

Weapons: Tira still has some muscle memory for the use of various types of swords, including the katana and other Samurai weapons, as well as the instinctive knowledge of how to use daggers, Kunai, and measures because of her Racial Thief class, but she still has a great deal to relearn. Since taking up the Ninja

Fighting style: Tiraleen still has incredible residual ability with magic, and some muscle memory for combat even if she has no conscious memory of anything relating to her previous training. Her magic is centered, though, around the draconic tattoos that are emblazoned on her body.

Good Qualities: Fast and agile, she has extremely strong magical potential. The draconic tattoos emblazoned on her skin allow her a great deal of versatility in magic and how she approaches such things. She resonates to magical energies and can sense them. She is also highly empathic and sensitive to emotional currents in the area.

Bad Qualities: Magical defense leaves something to be desired, but she can't help it; she resonates to magical energies. She's strong, but not bulky-strong. She has a temper and struggles with larcenous tendencies.

Personality: Devoted to her friends and those to whom she gives her loyalty. She has a tendency to get her emotions involved when she really shouldn't and tends to lose her cool when provoked. She has a fun-loving streak that shows only under certain conditions, as well as a teasing sense of humor. She has an inner trickster that can emerge at the most unexpected of moments. Since the attack, though, she has turned soft, almost, as most of the strain and harshness she learned over years of privation were stripped away from sudden forgetfulness.

Appearance: A young woman with brilliant, jewel-bright, deep green eyes and naturally maroon hair with golden highlights. She tends to wear yellows, browns, and golds. She is diminutively sized, not as small as say, a Tarutaru or a Lilty, but she is definitely dwarfed by most warriors. In fact, if one isn't able to look closely enough to see the developed musculature that is testament to her training; she could appear to be as soft and as helpless as the frailest Mage. She has a series of draconic-shaped tattoos on her body, down both arms and across her shoulders, down the center of her back along the spine, circling her belly and winding around both legs. Some of them appear to be symbols, some of them actually appear to be actual dragons and if someone were to look too closely, the dragons would seem to move within her skin.

History: The village of Dali wasn't the worst place in the world for a young Selkie girl to grow up. She'd been found wandering around the fields just outside the village when she was a very small child. No one knew where she'd come from, but Selkies weren't unknown to Gaia. They just weren't exceptionally common.

She loved her new family and grew up playing alongside the other children quite happily. Still, the financial troubles that plagued Dali were not conducive to preventing a life of crime, after a fashion.

Still, Tira knew that it wouldn't be good to steal from those who really needed what little they had. She'd learned that lesson early. She could, though, direct her larcenous nature towards those who had it readily to spare, and she loved taking any opportunity she could to return the favor to those who needed taking down by a peg or three.

Her situation changed, though, when she found the book.

It wasn't just any book. It was a book that tied into a large roll and was covered in a piece of leather with the hair still on it. The pages in the book were blank, until Tira put ink to them and watched her words reform before her eyes. It was an amazing book. It was a diary, and in contained the essence of the warrior Gilgamesh.

Gilgamesh had died, committed ritual suicide to expunge the shame of failure in his own eyes. But his spirit and his knowledge lived on in the form of this book which had found its way to her hands.

Tiraleen learned from the spirit of Gilgamesh and he taught her what he knew of swordwork and battle and magic. With his help, she became something more than just one more sneak-thief, or one more peasant villager from impoverished Dali. Because of Gilgamesh, Tira learned how to fight and she promised the book, in words that did not fade after she had written them, that she would not dishonor what he had given her.

Still, Tira was a thief at heart, and the spirit of Gilgamesh knew that she was not suited for the path of the Samurai. To ask her to follow that path, even as his student, was to ask her to be something other than what she was. She was a warrior touched by powers outside her world by virtue of learning from the greatest swordsman ever to live; she was a Rune Knight.

In his journeys Gilgamesh had learned many forms of magic, though most of them he was not suited to using. For Tira his spirit produced a form that had not been seen in a long time. Magical glyphs were tattooed onto Tira's skin, symbols for elements and for essences in the shape of twisting dragons. Tira was able to use these draconic tattoos to call magic to her command and focus it according to her will.

As a final gift, the book led Tira to a cave where a secret had been hidden since the time of Gilgamesh's death. A repository of knowledge and of craftsmanship. She looked over the treasures and selected a single sword to take with her on her journeys. She would come back for the rest later, when she was stronger and more able to carry the legacy of being the student of Gilgamesh.

Tiraleen struggled to live up to the Legacy of her Sensei, gaining in strength, but also gaining in single-mindedness. She was so devoted to her Sensei that it left little room for much else in her awareness, for all that she gained guardianship of a little girl who became the sister she had lost so many years before when her family splintered through circumstances beyond the control of a twelve-year-old girl. She also gained the love and devotion of another warrior, though theirs was not an easy path.

Matters unraveled between Tira and her Dark Knight when Aurora entered the picture, less because Aurora was trying to drive a stake through the two than because she highlighted issues that were already present.

It was at that point that Tira's devotion to her Sensei became something of an obsession. She became fixated on the idea of defeating Death itself and returning her Sensei to life. That quest almost certainly led to the tragedy that resulted.

Something horrible, or someone far too terrible to speak of, found Tiraleen and left her a broken, shattered husk. She breathed, but she could not be said to live. It was in this condition that she was found by her friends, Aurora and Mairi, and her brother Sorin, with a stark white wolf standing guard over her body.

The book was nowhere to be found.

Aurora stayed behind to take care of matters on other worlds while Sorin and Mairi-chan desperately flew to Vana'diel in the hopes that some form of healing would be possible for Tira there.

When she finally awoke, the terrible truth was known. Her mind was completely wiped clean. She had no memories of who she was or how she had gotten to Vana'diel, or what had happened to cause her injuries.

And so the story came full circle for Tiraleen as she had to slowly learn again everything she once knew and hopefully find the strength to stand on her own feet and trust in friends again. That she was able to do so was a testament to the strength of her growing bond to the Galka, Steel Deer.

Because of the power which touched her and brought her back to life after her grievous injuries, Tiraleen was now a Summoner and Steel, out of fear that her single-mindedness would lead her to harm again, saw that she was trained as a Ninja.

And so she continues her journey to rediscover herself as memories slowly trickle back into her mind and she sees again the worlds that she once knew so well.

Okay, because we're putting everything in the same thread now, I pasted in Tira's Dragon Shard and Wolfmother Summons.

Alterations have been made to Dragon Shard because of the rules regarding Party Member Weapons. The Upgrades have been removed and the abilities from one of those Upgrades have replaced the second Ability on the base Weapon. I do not yet know which of her weapons I wish to Upgrade for her.

It will likely be Dragon Shard eventually anyway. Unless I get hit over the head with a phenomenal idea. And a reason for Tira to give up her Reforged Blade.

Also added Tiraleen's Passive Enchantments, Mindlink, Metalshaping, Selkie Doublejump, Red Boots Give You WIIIIIIIINGS!!!!!!, and Ninja Mobility

And added Dragonborn with some minor edits because Tira does not yet have functioning Armor and to allow for the change in Elemental structure.

Added Spells: Dragon Strike, Swordwall, Flying Dragon, Dragonlight, Wheel of the Dragon, Fragile, Brittle

Elements have been corrected and in some cases cost or effect have been minorly altered to fit the new guidelines.

Dragon Strike needs to be 20MP

For Swordwall you have 2 posts of 60MP strength protection
In my mind for 2 post you have 30MP sense you are paying 60. 30 for each post

I hope tracking is not auto-hitting but i know you know that

Brittle and Fragile should cost more

Okay, Dragon Strike is a Tier 1 spell, that's 10 MP. Where are you getting the extra cost from?

No, that's 60 MP for anything that comes at her while she's in the barricade, anything that would hit on the post where she goes in and anything that would strike before her next post. Spells like that are not usually split on cost. It's part of the reason why she's locked in place, she's behind a spell-barricade.

And why would you require higher cost for Brittle and Fragile when they are simply Anti forms of Protect and Shell, and their cost already reflects that.

No, Tracking is not Auto-hitting, but it makes dodging a HECK of a lot more difficult. It means that the one trying to avoid the strike has to find something ELSE for it to hit first. Think "Heat-Seeking Missile", yeah, it can be avoided, but it's not going to be EASY. Which is why it costs more to add to a spell.

The last two i think the should be higher bc of the affect of increasing by 50%
for example hast increases it and its a 30MP spell

Bc its a spell that is launched at the opponent for 10MP? a 20Mp spell is what i was thinking for something like that and its still a level one

Alright the drawback i just read sorry i over looked it so i am okay with the swordwall

Uhhh, distance has NEVER been a factor in spellcasting? At least for cost determination at that LOW a distance?

If you insist, though, I can bump it, and then all your distance spells will be re-evaluated to match. And everyone else's spell with a distance on it.

As for Brittle and Fragile, you're saying that a DeBuff should cost more and have less effectiveness than the Buff it emulates? Both Protect and Shell provide 50% benefit to Physical Defense and Magical Defense respectively. Check the Spell List I posted if you're in doubt.

If that still seems like too much, then we can nerf the Canon Spells those are predicated on if you want.

*rubs my temples*

Alright, I'm looking at the list right right now. I fail to see what the problem is. Tier 1 Fire, Water, Ice, and Thunder are all 10MP. They all automatically have distance to them, even though it isn't stated. They have to... its how spells work, or so I thought.

Swordwall you two have seemed to clear up

This Brittle and Fragile thing....
Brittle makes one 50% less physically protected at 30MP
Protect is 30MP for 50% physical protection

Fragile makes one 50% less magically protected at 30MP
Shell is 30MP for 50% magic protection

She also stated that Esuna also works against these two as it does against Shell and Protect in themselves. So they have the same disadvantage as Protect and Shell spells
And Esuna is only 20MP.

What is the problem? Or I can't help here

Actually, Protect and Shell can be banished through "Dispel" not "Esuna" so it's actually easier to banish the deBuffs than the Buffs.

But other than that, yeah, you've got everything right. It's why I can't understand why Kefka seems to think that there's a problem here.

I specifically set up Brittle and Fragile to be mirror images of the Canon Spells to reduce problems with them.
