Good Qualities: Magic, Speed, Accuracy and Luck are his strong points. His intel gathering skills, and knowledge of the underworld syndicates is nearly unmatched, being one of the heads of it himself. He isn't half bad with the instruments either.
Bad Qualities: Excessive gambler not so much, but he likes to show off a bit too much. His physical prowess is about average, as well as his other abilities but just under average. Other than that he can actually be quite disloyal to those he has just met, having lived out most of his life as a bounty hunter and a business man.

History: Bernhardt Rhodes a man from another world, one that is similar to the one we live on now, except for far more advanced technology wise. He was a leading scientist in the field of genetics, but he committed a taboo. He was recreating life, taking DNA from those who have passed and "growing" them in large capsules. He had no bad intention about it, in fact Lapis was the remnants of DNA and energy gather from a young woman who had passed in an unfortunate accident. The capsules allowed for a person to be reborn memories and all and at the age at which they had passed. However due to another event Lapis was unable to gain her old memories and age.
One night in Bernhardt's lab he was found out because a colleague snitched on him to the police. He was attacked in his lab by a group of agents, but as they blasted their way in it happened.... the chemicals on his desk mixed together and the reaction created a wormhole. Before he could be sucked in Bernhardt managed to grab hold of Lapis by breaking the capsule, he was not going to let someone become dissected for an experiment especially someone he had watched grow up once before already. He managed to wrap her in his lab coat and held on tight as they were both sucked into the vortex. Unknown to Bern his colleague was brought through as well. Henderson, a man just as smart as Bern, but twice as wicked.
Upon reaching their destination, Bern was lost in a forest in a distant land.. the one you would know as The First World. So there they were lost, one of them still in an unconscious stupor, it would be about a week before she woke up. Bernhardt had to use what knowledge he has of plants and animals from his world to survive, but is did not help much, at least not until he managed to find shelter and a town for them to stay in. He couldn't believe what he was seeing, people were using magic and even some with armor wielding huge weapons. Upon reaching a store on the outskirts of the town he ran into some peculiar people, they wore goggles, and spoke a rather funny tongue, but the weirdest part was that he understood it. They came over to him as if they had known him and began to speak.
"Rao pnudran, yna oui haf ynuiht rana, oui sicd pa bnaddo pnyja du hud fayn kmyccac du lujan ouin aoac."Wearing glasses why would he need glasses. They saw the confused look on his face and beckoned him inside. He went inside and saw that all the people inside were wearing goggles. They all looked at him with awe apparently he was some sort off oddity.
"Ra ec ym prat yc famm, pid ra sicd hud pa vnus ynuiht rana, ajah dra haflusanc du dufh ghuf du frana kukkmac."He looked at everyone still the confused look, and what came next shocked even him.
"Ehtaat E tu hud lusa vnus drec funmt, E lusa vnus vyn yfyo, pid so xiacdeuh ec fro fuimc e haat du frana kukkmac mega oui?"One of them pulled out a small mirror and handed it to Bern, what he saw was a completely different him. His blue eyes now green, the retina in a swirl. He was completely confused. And in a panic he ran from the shop and went to check out the place he and Lapis had come to this world, where he found the one thing he needed. On the ground before a stump was a bright stone glowing in a multitude of colors, it would become known as the HomeStone.the stone however was stolen not too long after this, when he was attacked by a woman named Mary and he had to head back to camp to rescue a newly awakened Lapis from her.
The next few years were all a blur to him, he managed to get by with caring for Lapis (age 12) for the next 6 years, and through all this time he met 2 very important people who would change his life. The first was a six-armed psycho known throughout the universe as Gilgamesh. And life around that guy was like an endless party, his best friend, as far as Bern knew Gilgamesh had passed. The other person he met in the First world that changed his life was Evangeline, and boy was that woman one heck of a firecracker, and she was in the same sort of business as Bern at the time. In fact that was how they had met, they both were after the HomeStone (though Eva did not know what exactly it was just that it was valuable), Bern had gotten a lead on it and followed on it. And almost immediately a fight broke out for the stone, it was suppose to be carried by a caravan and Bern had just taken it out when Evangeline appeared. To forces against one another that would shake the underground to its very core, both equally matched, but upon the outcome of their battle they were both taken out by someone else who snuck in a blow to the back of both of them. When they woke up they began to fight again about who won, they seemed to have forgotten what happened. After that they were pretty much inseparable, when they were together. They didn't see much of one another between "missions", but when they did let's just say.... things would get a bit naughty...putting into account they had a small single bedroom cottage, in the middle of a forest miles away from any towns.

Bern's body was destroyed during a mission with Shade Leonhart, an entire building collapsed upon Bernhardt and he just barely managed to get out. Henderson was behind the whole thing, luring Bern there with a faux HomeStone. His left arm destroyed, but unlike Xavier Bernhardt had another solution than a robotic limb, he had already prepared a body in which his mind and soul would be transfered and he did just that. He went around under the alias of Daemon Tempest, hiding as an unknown student of Bernhardt Rhodes (which is himself), using this to his advantage he was able to gather info on the HomeStone and take it back from Henderson, and exact his revenge using his Hypnotic Relapse Spell to render Henderson mind a vegetable and then shot him square in the face.... YES BERN WAS NOT A HAPPY CAMPER.

(SPELLS)Name: Flare MaximurDescription & Effect: Red energy begins to gather around Bern's hands, once gathered the energy will move about his arms like tails from his hands to his elbows. The energy explodes outward in pulses at Bernhardt's will. The pulses do not extend passed 5 ft from the caster's hand and cause minor Fire damage.

The bullet have a bit of a hidden effect about them, since they do not cause damage to a target they cause a status effect of Bern's choice.

Name: Orb FlareDescription & Effect: 12 orbs are summoned to Bern's side. Well at each point they would be on a clock to be more exact. These orbs are made nonelemental energy, and can regenerate themselves after being used up, but only during the spell. The orbs explode at Bern's will, but will bounce around and move at his will until he so chooses to have them explode. Upon exploding the orbs will split iinto energy shards and shoot outward, from the epicenter of the explosion.

Name: Hypnotic RelapseDescription & Effect: Bernhardt and his opponent are placed in a temporary alternate reality, which is the reliving of his target's worst and most painful memories. The longer the person is inside the worse the damage is. The person looks like the age in which this happens, the same smells exist, the same feelings, sights, etc.
This happens when Bernhardts swirl, representing him as an al bhed, changes shape to that of a spike wheel with 8 points. A field is projected around Bern that is not visible to normal eyes. Bern is able to "reach" into the memories of his enemy and project them in this alternate world. Thus anything that can obstruct him from doing this makes the spell useless.
