Name: Yuna, the High Summoner of Besaid, the daughter of Braska
Age: 19
Race: Half AlBhed
Gender: Female
Home World: Spira
Alignment: Generally Good
Appearance: Yuna is an athletic young woman with shoulder-length brown hair and bi-colored eyes, one blue eye and one green eye, because she is half-Al Bhed. Since joining the Gullwings she has grown out a very long tail of hair that she keeps wrapped in a ribbon and then tied at the end, which brushes her heels. Her clothing changes dramatically depending on which Dressphere she is utilizing at the moment.
Class: Summoner
SubClass: Monk
Elements:Mastered: Light
Secondary: Non-Elemental
Tertiary: Lightning
Personality: Yuna used to be a very restrained, very responsible young woman who was so focused on her duty to the world at large that she was willing to sacrifice her own life for the greater good. Learning that she had been used as a pawn by the very people she had devoted her life to support caused a dramatic alteration in her approach to life. She is still very devoted and very responsible, unable to leave events to sort themselves out when she is the only one who can help. She doesn't want to be a pawn for anyone again, though, and she doesn't like her own notoriety as a living High Summoner, the one who defeated Sin and Vegnagun. She is focusing more on having fun with her life, after so many years of denying herself so many little things on the road to self-sacrifice.
Fighting Style: Highly determined by her active Dressphere. Magic is used from a distance, guns are used from a distance, close range is utilized with swords and knives and such. She uses the Garment Grid to enable the use of the enchanted Dresspheres (Form Changes).
Affinities: Loyal, determined, strong-willed. The use of the Dresspheres, though, means that she is highly adaptable to the circumstances around her and able to change her tactics and methods at the drop of a hat. She is exceptionally skilled with magical energies and with Summoning, though she is still regaining Aeons to Summon since she Sent them following the defeat of Sin. She is acrobatic and swift.
Bad Qualities: Yuna has a distressing tendency to be far too trusting for her own good, something that caused her to be used by the more cynical forces in the Church of Yevon. She is also not as physically strong as some, nor as tough, having been trained in the more intellectual pursuits of Summoning and Magic in her growing-up years. She is working to correct that, but it is a long road and she will likely always lack at least a little in those areas.
History: Yuna lost her Al Bhed mother to Sin when she was a very small child. Her father, who was a Summoner and had set aside his pilgrimage when he wed, set out on Pilgrimage to defeat Sin leaving little Yuna alone in Bevelle, the city of her birth. Braska, along with his Guardians Auron and Jecht, succeeded in defeating Sin.
Yuna was seven years old when the bells rang out and the streets of Bevelle were flooded with people celebrating the fall of Sin and the beginning of another Calm. She was happy that the Calm had come. But she knew that the Calm meant that her father was dead. She was proud of him, proud of his sacrifice, proud to be his daughter.
But she still missed him terribly.
That was when Kimahri, a mountain-tall Ronso warrior, found her on the streets in the middle of the celebration. A dying man had asked him to look after Yuna, to take her to the island of Besaid where she could grow up in peace. Ronso take such things seriously and he devoted himself to guarding Yuna, even before she chose to take her father's path.
On the island, she befriended and became very much a younger sister to Wakka, Lulu, and Chappu.
When Sin appeared again, though, the happy days came to an end. Yuna, against the vehement arguments of her friends, began to study the path of the Summoner even though they all knew how it would end. Yuna told herself that it was a small thing to sacrifice herself for the happiness of so many other people. She even believed it.
When she finally emerged from the Chamber of the Fayth with her first Aeon she found her guardians joined by one extra, Tidus, the son of Jecht. As they journeyed together, she became very attached to the young man, fell in love with him. Still, her duty compelled her to set aside her selfish wish for happiness with Tidus in the name of the greater good.
She agreed to marry Seymour only because of that sense of responsibility and that firm determination that her selfish desires meant nothing in the light of the greater good. When her guardians flew to rescue her from the ceremony, after she had changed her mind and they had defeated Seymour for the murder of his father, Jyscal, she was pressured into submission only through blatant threat against their lives, specifically that of Tidus.
The teachings of Yevon betrayed her that day, although the full betrayal took time to unfold as her soul took battering after battering from events as they happened around her. By the time she faced Sin and defeated the summoner responsible, the final blow fell on her with the loss of Tidus himself.
Tidus had been a Dream of the Fayth of Zanarkand, created by them through the Unsent Summoner Yu Yevon himself.
Rebuilding herself following the final defeat of Sin and the beginning of the Eternal Calm was difficult. Her cousin Rikku took up Sphere hunting and the finding of an unusual sphere caused her to return to Yuna with the opportunity to explore another option for her life.
Searching for the truth of the sphere, where a man who looked and sounded like Tidus appeared to be trapped and pleading to return to someone, led her to a new calling as a Sphere Hunter and a member of the Gullwings. She also followed the clues to a thousand year old threat from a giant mechanized fiend, Vegnagun, and the final wish of vengeance from the one who controlled him, the unsent spirit of Shuyin, who resembled Tidus so strongly, and who also loved a Summoner who had walked with open eyes to her death, Lenne.
She was able to reconcile the two spirits and give them a moment of reunion. Following that, the freed spirits of the Fayth offered her a chance to have Tidus at her side again. It was not a promise.
She has not seen him return, yet, but she is not going to put her life on hold waiting for him. She knows that his love for her lives in her heart and that even if the Fayth do not return him to the world of Spira, she can never lose the memory of what they shared.
