| Name: Frost Alias: Winter Mage Age: ?? (2 yrs) Race: Black Mage Gender: Unknown (Presumed to be male) Home World: Cornelia, Paramecia Elemental Usage: IceClass: Black Mage Weapons: Magically created weapons, Rods, Staves and Daggers Fighting Style: Long Range Good Qualities: Frost is a very curious individual (or group of personalities). This curiosity has led the black mage to some very interesting experiences which allows Frost to be much more capable than many would presume someone of Frost's limited life-span to be. In addition is the air of mystery that surrounds every Black Mage making Frost a 'wild-card'. In Battle - In Battle, Frost decimates opposition with Ice Element Magic. Whether a quick death by icy daggers or a slow painful erosion of the opponents' will to fight by making the very atmosphere a winter-nightmare. Bad Qualities: Frost isn't always 'Frost'. The persona of Frost is ruled by a myriad of internal 'sub-personalities' that comprise the adventurers from which Frost came to be. Among them are people who are thieves, berserkers and others. As well as knights, white mages and the like. In Battle - Frost's major downfall is close range combat with a skilled melee combatant. Frost, unlike Elisud prefers battling at Long-Range and so finds close-range combat difficult. This can pose a real problem if the Berserker persona takes over and closes the gap between Frost and the enemy. Affinities: True Neutral Appearance: No one really knows what black mages look like, there have been inquiries and investigations that have come up with varied results. Supposedly some look like skeletal remains of a single entity that was incinerated by magical means and reconstructed through unnatural processes who eventually gained free-will. Others seem to be a mismatched patch-work of body-parts acquired from a multiple of individuals somehow drawn together into one cohesive unit. Frost, for the most part is the latter of these. A collection of frozen wayward souls brought together and animated through residual magic - given thought and freedom of choice. However, with the mixed myriad of memories, Frost's "sense of self" (i.e. How Frost thinks Frost looks) is very confused. Clothing - Frost usually wears blue robes with a yellow straw hat. Because of the heavy robes and the shadow of his hat, no one has ever seen Frost's face or body. His arms are always wrapped in white bandages preventing them and gloves preventing they too from being seen by anyone when they emerge from the depths of his robes. Regarding weapons, he has a great preference toward rods. However, he much prefers magic over getting close to his opponents. History: The Frozen Crown is an area where many adventurers meet their end, some say the summit of its peak is cold enough to freeze a man to their very soul. This is where Frost was 'born' in body and soul. Frost's birth was an enigmatic thing, the compilation of the souls of fallen adventurers and their corpses compiling themselves into a single sentient creature. When Frost was first 'born', he could not wear any of the advanced equipment around him, in fact his frail body could not even carry the loot which he was so fortunate to be amidst. However, as the frozen black mage ventured closer toward society, the singularity found various articles of equipment which he could use conveniently strewn across the frozen wasteland. These were left behind by Adventurers who had gotten in way over their heads. Frost also found some gil amidst the corpses and while not understanding the 'value' it held, took the coins anyway because of the 'prodding' of a particular thief adventurer who resided in his entity giving Frost some degree of 'greed' to his mixed personality. The great monsters who live in the Frozen Crown did not attack Frost as he shares their 'scent'. He, like them is part of the Frozen Crown and may commune with its creatures though at the moment to a severely limited degree because of his lack of understanding of himself. Frost's knowledge in total comes from the combined memory fragments of those who reside within him. Thus, in time he will come to 'remember' these various skills of all the adventurers who comprise him and may gain some surprising skills for his race. ( General Note: Frozen Crown isn't any specific place. If anyone takes offense to the name, please give me the name of an Ice-Related place with Ice element monsters and I'll be happy to edit that as the name of the place Frost was 'created'.) Pictures: ---- - Armory - Weapons: - Spoiler:
Name: Wrought Winter Rod
Type: Rod
Element: Ice
Effects:
Winter Grasp - Increase the power of Ice Spells by 20%
Magic Stick - Attacks from this weapon are treated as an ice-element magical attacks rather than physical attacks (however they can still be blocked by normal means e.g. with a shield). These attacks take the form of crescents of ice-magic energy that are approximately 4 ft (1.2 m) in length and 2 inches (5 cm) thick.
Range: Long and Short Range
Appearance: Longer than the traditional magic wand, the Winter Rod is about half the length of a staff made of a very pale wood. There are markings engraved into the wood which glow cyan when the rod is held by Frost (as the weapon was made for the black mage) with a blue crystal in the shape of several conjoined icicles adorning the top of the rod. The rod itself constantly releases a thin fog that is extremely cold to touch, this effect is lessened in dry/arid environments such as deserts and is assumed to be the water vapor in the air being frozen on contact with the Winter Rod.
Armor: [None] ------- - Tome of Magic - Spells: (0/6 Spells) [None] ------- Skills: (0/1) [Unlimited Passive Skills] [Available] Transformation: (0/1) [Available] Summon: (0/1) [Available]

| Name: Artist's Robe, Traveling Cloak Enchanted: Nullifies Detrimental Environment effects. Protection: +20% Physical Def. / +20% Magical Def. History: Autumn travels to many different worlds and as a result of her travels has needed a robe that would protect her from the harsh elements while traveling. Luckily for her, she picked up just such a robe in her own home city of Delling before setting off on her journey. This robe was sewn with many different animal hides from different parts of the world. It protects against ambient cold, heat, dust and many other environmental factors. However will not grant any significant protection against actual spells of these concentrated aspects (such as a blizzard spell as opposed to a naturally occurring blizzard). Picture: | |

| Looks simple enough to me. I kinda like the ambient thing with the weather . . .
It seems to have everything in order, I don't have issues with the 20% protection boosts, so long as they aren't added to with the upgrade allowed to a Party Member's equipment.
As long as that's understood, and I haven't missed anything HUGELY important . . .

| The only part of this that I *don't* like is the lack of a finite duration.
The longest any spell can last is 7 posts, and I'll allow a TOTAL of Tier 1 damage over those 7 posts, not Tier 1 EACH post.
Is that acceptable?

Anyway, I guess 7 posts is fine.

| Subject: Spell # 2 - Portrait of Ruin November 1st 2010, 8:30 pm | |
| Name: Portrait of Ruin Description & Effect: Autumn chooses a single target from the field and paints an exact replica of that person on canvas. This portrait becomes Autumn's weapon and shield. Every time the canvas portrait inflicts or takes damage, the subject of the portrait will have tier 1 non-elemental magical damage inflicted upon them. Similar to how a voodoo doll works. AP/MP Cost: 30 MP [+ 10 MP (every time tier 1 damage is inflicted)] Class: Offensive Element: Non-Elemental Range: Long (Field Encompassing) Effect: Tier 1 Elemental Damage (plural times) + Tracking + Extended Duration Duration: 7 posts
Edit~ Cost Breakdown -
Tracking = +10 MP Extended Duration = +20 MP Tier 1 Non-Element Damage = +10 MP per time damage done.
Total = 30 MP + 10 MP for each time damage is done to the portrait.

| So this is something like a Magic Wall? ((30MP for 3 posts)) or Reflect? ((50MP for 5 posts))
and 7 posts?
Does this cover physical damage as well as magic?
for only 30MP to start?
And what's with the tracking?

| It's neither of those. o.o;
It's basically making a painting of someone. Every time the painting gets damaged, the person the painting is of also gets damaged. No matter how much damage is inflicted onto the painting, the damage taken by the person will always be tier 1 non-element magic damage. Tracking is because it's not something that's avoidable. Once she paints you, she has you in the spell and you can't avoid taking the damage until the spell wears off or you somehow destroy the painting.

| But you stated that this is being used as a shield.... protection from both magical and physical damage.....
and what if something much stronger than a Tier 1 spell is used against this portrait copy?
And completely unavoidable for 7 posts? At only this cost? Going by the spell durations of what's in that spell list, you'd have to pay a whole lot more or really nerf down this duration.

| It's not nullifying the effects;
If I have a sword that gives me +20% Speed and has an auto-return effect. And I use this sword to parry an attack in battle, it is being used (in this circumstance) as a 'shield'.
There is no defense buff, no nullifying of damage it is simply an aesthetic thing for the painting to be a 'shield'.
Now, if someone attacks it with a tier 2 spell, the painting will take the damage and so will the painter. Also, the person the painting is about will take tier 1 non-element damage because of the spell effect.
Now as for the cost.... what do you suggest?

| I never said anything about this nullifying the effects. I was simply stating the term "shield" as you wrote in the template... - Quote :
- This portrait becomes Autumn's weapon and shield.
I never stated anything about a defense buff either. And the template, nor your previous explanations, ever stated that the "painter" ((Ambre)) herself ever takes any damage still, just "the who" the painting is of takes the damage. So... I'll get someone else better qualified to understand and get this approved for you.

| The stated bad qualities..... no matter how many personas this character has, he's not going to have the same skills as what you mentioned. I just want to be sure that's understood. He's a Black Mage that only use Black Mage abilities and Black Mage skills. | |

| Oh, yes. Sorry I didn't clarify that. ^^;
Indeed, Frost is only a black mage and will always only ever be a black mage. That's why it's problematic when the berserker personality takes over (hence it's one of the weaknesses in battle)
Is that ok? | |

| How big are they going to be? I would find 4 feet long 2 inch thick being fair enough size, and they will be blockable with weapons you hear me. Since you not paying MP for them then others don't need to pay MP to block them they just need to be able to hit the suckers away or block them. Okay? | |
