Name: Tidus
Age: 19
Race: Human/Dream of the Fayth
Gender: Male
Home World: Dream Zanarkand, Spira
Alignment: Good-Chaotic
Class: Warrior (The class he's listed as mainly being.)
SubClass: Black Mage (Because we don't have Time Mage)
(And, that's DIRECT from the FF Wiki. Tidus = Warrior/Time Mage)
Elements:
Mastered: Non-Elemental
Secondary: Water
Third: Light
Fighting Style: FAST. Tidus isn't the heavy-hitter Auron or Kimahri are, but his speed and agility make up for it. He can't hit as hard, but he can hit MUCH faster. A lot of that comes from his rare ability to alter time's flow. On top of that, during his journey, he'd begun to learn some basic Black Magic, allowing him to wield Water-Element spells with great proficiency.
Affinities: Besides being incredibly quick, on land and in water, Tidus has a natural affinity for the water, being able to hold his breath for inconceivable lengths of time, and cast Water spells
Bad Qualities: Tidus is, as stated above, not the most physically powerful warrior out there. It also makes sense that Space-type spells, such as Gravity, have more of an effect.
Personality: Tidus is a complex young man. On the surface, he's a positive, carefree guy. A little childish at times, but, who among us isn't? However, for his age, he's incredibly mature, owing to his unconventional childhood. He's quite sensitive, and calculating. Even when emotionally invested in something, he's got the presence of mind to make a rational argument. Tidus makes friends easily, being a kind, understanding young man. He'll fight for what he believes in to the very end, and isn't afraid to go to an extreme to do it.
Appearance: (Oh, here we go...) Tidus looks as if he's seen some battles. His black overalls are torn around the edges. The right leg is nearly-full-length, bearing the symbol of the Zanarkand Abes. The left leg is torn to shorts-length. He also wears a torn, hooded yellow shirt, with the left sleeve gone. Over his left arm is a dark blue pauldron, and black gauntlet. A thick glove covers his right hand. His shoes have a heavy look, and are, apparently, waterproof. His blond hair is always in a state of disarray, and his youthful blue eyes hide a deep, intellectual young man.
History:
It was during the Jecht Memorial Cup, a tournament celebrating Jecht's life, held in memory of his disappearance. Considering how horribly Jecht treated Tidus, he was competing with his team, th Zanarkand Abes, purely for the cup, caring not for the memory of his father. Sin, influenced by Jecht, turned its eyes on Dream Zanarkand, destroying nearly all of the inhabitants. It was Auron's meddling that saved Tidus from this fate, and sent him to the true Spira. Stranded in the Baaj Temple, he was rescued by Rikku. She, as well as his next ally, Wakka (who he met after being attacked by Sin AGAIN), Tidus adopted the lie of being a victim of the amnesia-inducing Toxin of Sin, to avoid being labeled as a heretic. Travelling with Wakka to the Temple on Besaid Island, it was here Tidus met Yuna.
...Can you say "Destiny"?
Yuna herself invites Tidus to join her as a Guardian, which he accepts. Yuna's other guardians have varying opinions. Wakka is friendly towards him, considering his resemblance to Chappu. Lulu, at that stage, was still feeling him out... ...Kimahri outright made an attempt on his life. En route to the next Temple, at Kilika, he and Yuna get to talking... ...And Tidus learned just WHERE his father, Jecht, had disappeared to 10 years prior. Seems he was in this same situation, with Yuna's father. By the time the group reaches Kilika, Sin has laid waste to the small village. It's here Tidus witnesses the Sending.
At the port city of Luca, the Blitzball Mecca, Tidus finds out his new team, the Besaid Aurochs, are considered a joke. Boldy, he challenges the favored team, the Luca Goers, predicting a grand vitory for the Aurochs. ...He is summarily dismissed by the populace. After much hubbub involving grand Holy Men and a pair of jerkass Ronso, Yuna is abducted by a band of Al Bhed. Quickly saving her with the aid of Lulu and Kimahri, he is informed Yuna is, in reality, 1/2 Al Bhed. Learning of Wakka's blind prejudice, he keeps this hidden. After helping the Aurochs to CRUSH the Luca Goers, with the help of the Sublimely Magnificent Jecht Shot Mk 3, Tidus finally meets up with Auron, who reveals unto him a truth...
Sin is Jecht.
Shortly after, Yuna made Tidus' position official. Afteer cherring one another up, albeit in a strange way, the now-expanded group went on to Djose Temple. En route, Yuna explains what Sin IS, according to scripture. ...Of course, after the fiasco of the Mi'ihen Highroad, and Sin's next major attack, devastates the Crusaders. Quickly, the group gets through the Djose Temple, moving onn from the warzone of the Mi'ihen Highroad.
When travelling the Moonflow, Yuna is kidnapped. ...Again. ...By the Al Bhed. Tidus and Wakka make short work of their Machina. Beyond eye or earshot of his fellows, he realizes the pilot was his rescuer, Rikku. Asking Yuna and Auron if she could travel with them, as a Guardian, the four succeed in keeping Wakka in the dark about the girl.
Stopping beyond, in Guadosalam, Seymour Guado, a man they'd met before, and a powerful Maester, announced his intention to marry Yuna. This, combined with his pre-existing dislike of Seymour, and his now-renewed hatred for his father (triggere by seeing his mother in the Farplane), left him in a rather foul mood, which he quickly dismissed. Mostly to get Rikku brave enough to get through the Thunder Plains.
By the time they reach Macalania, Yuna has decided to go through with marrying Seymour, as is stated in his father's will. ...Until he reveals that he himself slew his father. The corrupt Maester was soundly beaten, and died there. Going unsent, thanks to Trommel, they were branded traitors. Sin itself sent all but Yuna on to Home, the stronghold of the Al Bhed.
In the soon-to-be-violated safety of Home, Tidus learns that the Final Summoning, the ultimate goal of a Summoner, is deadly. This seems to cause him to emotionally SNAP, resolving to make certain she would not be forced into this. Of course, the Guado, using the "traitors" as an excuse to attack the Al Bhed, force Tidus and company to flee. With Cid's help, they do... ...Straight to Bevelle.
Unfortunately, though they crash the wedding, with an Unsent Seymour as the groom, they are held at gunpoint. If not for Yuna's quick thinking, they'd've died there, as well. Quickly gaining the next Aeon, the group is captured and cast into the Via Purifico. The group makes short work of "Yevon's Harshest Sentence", only to be confronted by Seymour. At this point, it became obvious that Seymour was insane, as well as Omnicidal. They finally waste him... AGAIN... ...And retreat to Macalania Woods.
Yuna's faith is in tatters. Retreating to a forest spring, followed quickly by Tidus, the two share a passionate moment, both bare to pure emotion.
If only it were that easy. As they journeyed with great speed to the ruins of Zanarkand, gaining the last three Aeons, Tidus finds that he and Jecht both exist only through the Dream of the Fayth. However, he is told that, being touched by Sin, he is something... ...Different. Resolved to continue on, even knowing this, the group eventually reaches the depths of Zanarkand, and learn the Ultimate Truth: Sin was created as an immortal being, regenerating from whichever Final Aeon slays him. They all defy the pseudo-angel, and are forced to annihilate Yunalesca. As they seek to defeat Sin, they learn Sin is an armor for Yu Yevon, with the last Final Aeon as a battery. It is then they understand what they must do: Enter Sin, and defeat Jecht, to leave Yu Yevon vulnerable.
Seymour entered with them, determined to become Sin. However, he is defeated FOR THE LAST TIME, and Yuna Sends him. Using all their might, the party fells Jecht, each of the Aeons, and finally, Yu Yevon himself. Knowing he would vanish, Tidus attempted to leave before Yuna and the others could get emotional. Tidus DOES eventually re-awaken... ...But not in Spira.
Tidus awakens in the World of Cosmos. Sensing he was once more needed, he took up his blade against the Warriors of Chaos. After a brief 10-on-10 melee, Tidus ends up in the company of three heroes: Firion, Cecil Harvey, and Cloud Strife. Tidus encourages Cloud to tend to his own demons, and for Cecil to face his brother. A small army of fiends separate him and Firion, and he is led to Jecht. The Emperor, however, sent Jecht away, to eliminate Tidus himself. ...He failed. Reuniting with Firion, who had fought Jecht, he let Tidus go after him, against his better judgment. The two watch the Emepror and Jecht have it out, with Jecht being left wounded. Determining he couldn't fight Jecht as he was, he passed off a Potion to him. Jecht, however, has other ideas, and picks at his son's insecurities, leading to a full-scale battle between them. The two reconcile their differences, in their own way. Tidus gains the Crystal, and Jecht vanishes. Tidus and cloud both arrive to Firion;s side in time to run off the Emperor, who challenges Firion to a one-on-one in his palace. Firon accepts, and leaves. The two meet up with Squall Leonhart, and unite the Warriors of Cosmos.
After Cosmos passed on, the Warriors advanced to the Edge of Madness, to defeat Chaos. Tidus is sent to fight Jecht one last time. Jecht gives his son two pieces of advice. "An Ace is someone who makes the winning play just in the nick of time." and "Shoot, even if you don't understand. The next stage will surely come to you." The Warrior of Light reveals he has no memories. Tidus comforts him by saying that the nine of them will be his new memories, and they'll always be with him. When Chaos fell, Tidus was the first to return to his own world, diving into the seas beyond the coast of the Cornelian Peninsula.
Shinryu, the God-Dragon, sent Tidus back to Spira... ...Where a new journey awaits him.
