Final Fantasy :: Requiem Of Shadows

Music is but a thought--a voice that cannot speak, yet refuses to remain silent. This is Final Fantasy. Can you hear it? It comes from the Shadows--A Requiem.

Dragoncatcher Racket Empty
PostSubject: Dragoncatcher Racket   Dragoncatcher Racket EmptyOctober 19th 2011, 6:15 pm

Name: Dragoncatcher Racket

Type: Racket

Element: Light

Effect: This weapon's normal attack consists of launching a globe of energy at an opponent utilizing the Magic attribute of the wielder in place of the Strength attribute common for weapons. This means that it is stronger in the hands of a Mage than a Warrior.

Additionally, the dragon feathers used in the crafting of this weapon enhance the Magic of the wielder, granting a 20% bonus to the attribute.

The Dragoncatcher Racket is able to "catch" and deflect magical or status attacks as if they were formed of more physical material. The wielder must match any costs associated with the attack that is being deflected, must have adequate room in order to swing the racket to deflect an oncoming spell, and, in the case of AoE spells, can only deflect spells from one target.

Range: This weapon is used for predominantly mid to long range melee attacks, mostly because of the space needed to actually swing it in order to launch the globe of energy. The wielder needs at least 3 to 5 feet of space between them and an opponent in order to strike.

Appearance: This racket has a handle formed of a rough branch smoothed by hand and wrapped with leather on the grip. The handle splits at the top to form a circle that is bound by a spiderweb pattern of leather ties and is decorated by dangling feathers. In short, there is a dreamcatcher as the actual paddle part of the weapon. The feathers are the very ones which Mairi snatched away from Shinryu in her rage at him.

Picture: None available

Hmmm I'll accept that deflection thing but only under this condition. If the spell or status effect has multi target thing, your girl can only deflect the part of it coming at her. So if I threw a firaga at you and one other then yes you girl could protect herself from damage with this, but your other friend is on his or her own on avoiding it.

This just to lessen the whole issue of a person's AOE spell being many different beams of energy flying at people and your girl just catching the stuff flying at her shouldn't help save others.

Also the girl better not try to catch attacks that are smashed into her at point blank range, there is no possible way she could move her weapon into catching it in time if she was shot from so close.

Well, since I specifically say that she's gotta have room to swing the racket, so yeah, she's not deflecting anything at point blank range. That's simply a matter of logic.

As for the AOE, I'm willing to accept the restriction. Again, that's a matter of simply logic. Though, if I can request a slight alteration. She can redirect the attack on *one* target, not necessarily herself. Self sacrifice is alive and well with Mairi, you know.

Hmmm.....well fine you can have it be used to save any one target from a spell. Put that stuff in and I'll approve it
